History

In 2005 DSP debuted The Body Chronicles  in partnership with Girls on Run International.  This inaugural production garnered 4 Metrolina Theatre Association awards including Outstanding Special Event and Best Direction as well as Creative Loafing’s Best Original Show of the Year. The Body Chronicles was reprised in 2006 at The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s McGlohon Theatre and portions also seen at the North Carolina Women’s Convention in 2007. The Body Chronicles was proud to give over $10,000 of proceeds to the international non-profit organization Girls On the Run, a self-esteem and running program for girls, founded in Charlotte by Molly Barker.

In 2008 donna scott productions got a grant for a project that would ask writers to re-write and then workshop their own new ideas about traditional Fairy Tales; Theatre Charlotte agreed to partner and host the project. In 2009 the result was The Fairy Tale Chronicles,  Metrolina Theatre Association’s Outstanding Original Play for 2009, written by local authors Marla Brown, Iesha Hoffman, Jennifer Hubbard, Stan Peal, Shannon Reichley and with music by Gina Stewart.

Donna Scott was the Executive Producer on her first film project, Aphasia, with Little Word Films, which premiered in May 2010 and had premiered nationally in NYC & LA as is still well as worldwide. In addition, she produced her fourth theatre production, The Dixie Swim Club, in  June 2010 which won the Metrolina Theatre Association’s Best Comedy of 2010, Best Director (Polly Adkins) Best Lead Actress in a Comedy (Donna Scott) And Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy (Sheila Snow Proctor).
